Oakvow gives a family one calm place for the facts people may genuinely need, without treating every detail the same way.
Use the Open Shelf for everyday household information such as important contacts, document locations, account instructions, maintenance notes, and family routines. Invited members can see these facts immediately and keep them current.
Use the Sealed Envelope for sensitive records that should remain private while the owner is responding. Oakvow encrypts these records on the owner's device. The server stores ciphertext and independently sealed guardian shares, never a master recovery key.
Choose trusted guardians. Oakvow uses a 2-of-3 guardian threshold by default. Before sealing the first record, the owner can choose the release threshold supported by the active guardians. A single guardian cannot read or release a sealed record. Guardians receive their own encrypted key share, protected by a local passphrase, Android Keystore, and device authentication.
Stay in control with Proof-of-Life. The owner checks in on a monthly schedule by default. If a check-in is missed, Oakvow begins a response window of at least 72 hours and contacts the owner first. The owner can cancel the window with one tap. Guardians cannot start or shorten this process. After the response window expires, the configured number of independent guardians must participate before a content key can be reconstructed.
Oakvow is a practical information-organizing tool. It is not a legal will, does not decide inheritance, and is not an emergency or medical response service.
Share household facts now and seal sensitive records for trusted guardians.
