About this game

Sit by the fire and keep your candle lit. On the Midnight Shelf, forgotten ghost stories and modern urban legends live side by side, and every mystery leaves hidden objects behind.

Midnight Shelf: Hidden Objects is a supernatural mystery adventure and pop-up world builder. Alongside the Keeper and Mochi, your two-tailed Nekomata cat, search hand-painted scenes by candlelight, unfold 3D paper-engineered story books, and travel between two haunted realms: a candlelit anthology of timeless folklore and the rain-soaked neon alleys of Neo-Tokyo.

◆ SEARCH HAND-PAINTED SCENES ACROSS 5 MODES
Every room and sighting scene challenges your eyes and memory across five escalating ways to play:
• Find Hidden Objects: Hunt for forgotten keepsakes, glass plates, cursed VHS tapes, Kisaragi tickets, and curios from your clue tray.
• Search by Silhouette: Identify hidden objects and eerie evidence by their shadow outline alone.
• Compare Two Nights: Spot paranormal changes between two versions of a room, from a Victorian darkroom to the 11:59 PM last train and 4:44 AM Kisaragi Station.
• Search by Candlelight: Sweep a flickering golden flame through the dark to uncover hidden clues.
• Remember (Don't Blink Mode): Study the scene before the light goes out, then spot what moved!

◆ UNFOLD VOICE-NARRATED POP-UP BOOKS & URBAN LEGEND DOSSIERS
Each finished round opens the next spread of an interactive 3D pop-up book spanning classic folklore and Neo-Tokyo urban legends (Toshi Densetsu):
• Hold Very Still: An 1894 London photographer's studio and darkroom where the dead sit for their portraits before their faces fade.
• The Hundredth Candle: A mountain-pass tea house on a rainy night in Japan, where yokai tell a hundred ghost stories by candlelight.
• The Margins: A medieval abbey scriptorium where the creatures painted in an illuminated bestiary wake after dark.
• The Hut That Turns: A snowbound forest where a lost traveler meets Baba Yaga's walking hut and its fence of glowing skulls.
• Last Orders at the Moonlite: A 3 AM neon diner on Route Nine where waitress Dot serves Mothman and midnight regulars.
• The Keeper's Suitor: A fogbound coastal lighthouse where something singing in the swell leaves gifts upon the rocks.
• Neo-Tokyo Sightings: Investigate rain-drenched cases from Kisaragi Station and the 3:33 AM Haunted Konbini to the 4:44 Red Payphone Booth and the Slit-Mouthed Woman.

◆ POUR CANDLELIGHT TO WAKE A POP-UP HAUNTED TOWN
Every case you solve earns golden candlelight. Pour light into glowing cyan spirit blueprints to wake miniature pop-up landmarks, from Edmund's Studio, Haru's Tea House, and the Moonlite Diner to the Kisaragi Subway Hub and 4:44 Payphone Plaza.

◆ MEET MIDNIGHT VISITORS & UNLOCK LOST PAGES
Fulfil nightly requests for returning spirits, yokai, and urban legend witnesses before dawn. Light the nightly lamp to earn keys, open bell-jar curios to read secret lost pages, and piece together 12 overarching mysteries.
Playable 100% offline at your own pace.
