WatchSky is a Wear OS watch face that paints the real sky on your wrist.
Tell it your latitude and it works out the rest: when the sun rises and sets today, how high it climbs, and where it is right now. The background follows the sun's height through night, nautical twilight, blue hour, civil twilight, golden hour and full daylight, crossfading continuously instead of snapping between a "day" picture and a "night" picture. Because it follows the sun, not the clock, sunrise and sunset drift with the seasons on their own: a winter evening darkens hours before a summer one. Above it, the sun and the moon ride an arc across the dial.
🌍 SET YOUR LATITUDE, NOT YOUR HOURS
Choose from 25 latitude bands, from 70°N to 50°S, each labelled with cities so you can find yours at a glance (40°N · Madrid, New York, Beijing). From that and today's date, the face computes sunrise, sunset and the sun's altitude itself. Long summer days, short winter ones, even the midnight sun up north. No GPS, no location permission.
☀️ A SUN THAT CLIMBS
Amber on the horizon, whitening as it rises, with a glow that grows as it climbs. Even at noon, a winter sun stays golden.
✨ STARS THAT TURN
After dusk the stars fade in and wheel slowly across the night sky, rising and setting like the moon.
🌙 LIVE MOON PHASE
The moon shows its true current phase from the lunar cycle, illumination and all. Prefer a particular look? Pick any of the eight classic moon phases.
🌦️ WEATHER-AWARE SKY
Optional. When on, the face reads your weather and shifts its palette: overcast mutes the golden hour, storms darken the sky. A translucent weather icon sits on the dial.
🔋 CONFIGURABLE MIDDLE BAR
A slim progress bar under the time showing seconds, minutes, or battery level. Or switch it off entirely.
⌚ BUILT FOR ALWAYS-ON DISPLAY
A dedicated AOD layout with a lighter clock weight, plus a toggle to keep or hide your complication in always-on mode.
📅 AND THE SMALL THINGS
Tap the clock for your alarms, tap the date for your calendar. Toggleable date, optional border shadow, an optional dark ground that ends the sky at the horizon, and a long-text complication at the bottom, set to your next calendar event out of the box. On Wear OS 7, swap it for two curved complications along the bezel.
NO APP BEHIND IT
WatchSky is written entirely in Watch Face Format, the declarative format Wear OS renders itself. There is no background app, no location access, and nothing to trust.
Requires Wear OS 5.1 or newer. Works on Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch and other Wear OS smartwatches.
A phone companion is included with the same install to help you get the face onto your watch. To set it: long-press your current watch face, swipe to "+", and choose WatchSky.
