TYLER MOODY is an astrobiologist and science communicator specializing in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and the detection of biosignatures in exoplanet atmospheres. He holds degrees in astrophysics from the University of Cambridge and planetary science from the California Institute of Technology. His research has focused on atmospheric modeling of terrestrial exoplanets in the habitable zones of M-dwarf stars, the development of machine learning algorithms for technosignature detection in radio survey data, and the philosophical implications of post-detection protocols. He has contributed to the Breakthrough Listen initiative as a data analyst and has served on the International Academy of Astronautics SETI Permanent Committee. His writing has appeared in *Scientific American*, *Astronomy*, *Nature Astronomy*, and *The Planetary Report*. He is a frequent lecturer at the SETI Institute's annual conference and has appeared as an expert commentator on the BBC, PBS, and NPR for major developments in exoplanet science and SETI. *The Science of First Contact* is his first book.
