Ferris Wheel 3D Watch Face

A white steel Ferris wheel turns against the sky, framed by a painted steel ring, little light bulbs all round its rim. The time rides in its cabins: the hours in glossy red cabins near the top of the wheel, each numeral raised in white on the cabin's front; the minutes in big yellow cabins at the bottom, nearer and swung toward you on their hangers, so their lower parts come out over the ring with their shadows on it.

Every minute, a cabin rides in
When the minute changes, the wheel turns a little: the new cabin rides in along the rim and rocks to rest on its hanger.

Tap for the lights
Tap the watch face and the bulbs chase round the rim in warm white, pink and blue. It happens on the hour too.

Three skies
• Sunset: violet, pink and gold.
• Day: a clear blue summer sky.
• Night: a deep blue sky over the glow of the fair, the bulbs bright.

Readings in the cabins
Steps and battery ride in two little painted cabins at the sides of the wheel, unread notifications on a marquee sign on the hub. Put another app's complication there and it shows that app's icon and text. The date is lettered on the ring.

Easy on the battery
Nothing moves at rest: a cabin rides in only when a minute changes, the bulbs chase only on a tap and on the hour. Always-on shows only thin outlines of the numerals, the wheel's rim, the ring's edge and the date, dim on black.

• 12- or 24-hour time, as your watch is set. In 12-hour time an hour below 10 rides alone in a cabin at the top of the wheel.
